Car, pickup collide on Bend’s south end

KTVZ

A pickup and car collided on S. Highway 97 in southern Bend Monday night, sending the car’s driver to the hospital with apparent non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Shortly after 9 p.m., the driver of a Volkswagen car apparently pulled out into the path of a pickup truck heading south on Business 97 near Badger Road, said Sgt. Elizabeth Lawrence. The pickup then struck the car on the driver’s side in “T-bone” fashion.

The woman at the wheel of the VW was taken by ambulance to St. Charles Bend with apparently non-life-threatening injuries, Lawrence said. One of the other people in the vehicles was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant unrelated to the crash, she added.

The crash tied up southbound traffic on the busy street for a time. Both vehicles were removed and the road was reopened by about 10:20 p.m.
