United Way of Deschutes names new board members, officers

United Way of Deschutes County, a non-profit community catalyst since 1953, has announced the election of four new members to the volunteer Board of Directors.

The board plays an instrumental role in identifying essential community programs, ensuring the efficient use of donor dollars, establishing policies and strategic community objectives.

“Our Board of Directors is actively involved in the local community and brings a wealth of expertise and talent to our organization,” explained Corky Senecal, President of United Way of Deschutes County, “Each member will help us accomplish our organizational objectives, strengthen our connection to community, and communicate our many success stories.”

The new members of the Board are Lee Anderson, News Channel 21, Racheal Baker, Legal Aid Services of Oregon, Jacob Fain, Morgan Stanley and Melanie Grandjaques, Bendbroadband.

Officers of the Board were elected at January’s annual meeting. The following will serve a one year term: President: Corky Senecal, Retired, 1st Vice President: Dan Stevens, PacificSource Health Plans, 2nd Vice President: Eli Ashley, Retired, and Treasurer: Angie Hubler, Callan Accounting Services.

Senecal appointed the following board members to chair standing committees: Communications Committee : Dave Markham, Community Impact Committee : Mike Stanley, Fiscal & Operations: Angie Hubler, Managed Programs : Ray Spreier, Nominating Committee: Pat Roden, and Resource Development: Chip Reeves, Strategic Direction Task Force: Dan Stevens and Eli Ashley co-chairs.

“Many people are surprised to learn nearly 70,000 people receive assistance through United Way funded programs each year”, notes Ms. Senecal. “We want people to know that when you give to United Way of Deschutes County, your gift goes to help our most vulnerable citizens. For over 60 years, United Way of Deschutes County has helped enrich community life by addressing local priorities. Volunteers and donors research the needs of the community and develop strategies for assisting people who need it most, including children, families, individuals, and vulnerable populations. As a community catalyst, UWDC partners with more than 27 local non-profit agencies to develop programs and ensure the efficient use of donor dollars.
