The Central Oregon Council on Aging (COCOA) is pleased to announce that their Meals on Wheels (MOW) program was selected to receive a 2015 March for Meals grant award in the amount of $2,500based on their participation in our 13th annual campaign.

This grant, in addition to bringing awareness to MOW and involving the community, will give the local MOW program, which supports homebound seniors and prevents hunger, a financial boost.

This year’s March for Meals was the most successful yet. Meals on Wheels Americawas able to award 258 Member programs and two State Associations with nearly $400,000 in grants, made possible through the continued generosity of Subaru, a National Sponsor of the 2015 campaign.

For the local campaign, COCOA chose a western Meals on Wheels Roundup theme. Local rodeo royalty served as Community Champions and helped deliver meals. They included the 2015 Deschutes County Fair and Rodeo Queen Olivia Chandler and 2015 Jefferson County Fair and Rodeo Court, Queen Maezy Wills and Princess Emylia Rose Breckel.

Additional support was provided by the Bend Chamber of Commerce, Food 4 Less, John L. Scott Realty, Home Instead Senior Care, and Umpqua Bank.
