Lottery planned for 40 Bend affordable housing units

KTVZ

EPIC Property Management announced Wednesday it will take applications next week for a lottery to choose tenants for 40 new affordable housing units off Northeast 27th Street in Bend.

The units will be leased at The Parks at Eastlake, an affordable apartment community located on Bend’s east side, behind Eastlake Village.

The development provides Bend with new affordable housing for 40 households. As an affordable property, income restrictions will apply and rents will be well below market rates. The 40 units will serve Central Oregon resident households earning less than 50 and 60 percent of the area’s median income.

“Given the expected flood of applicants due to the current housing crisis, EPIC will be accepting applications for one week only, selecting qualified tenants through a lottery,” the announcement said.

“The waitlist lottery will ensure that all applicants are given an equal opportunity to obtain an affordable apartment. The application packet can be accessed online at www.epicpropertymgmt.com.”

Applications will be accepted Monday, June 15 through Thursday, June 18 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., and Friday, June 19 between the hours of 9 a.m. and noon.

Applications must be hand-delivered to the EPIC lease-up trailer located on-site at 680 NE Bellevue Drive, Bend, OR. The time that you apply during the open period does not affect your position on the waitlist; however, late applications will not be accepted.

The new community was developed by Housing Works, the largest affordable housing provider in Central Oregon, in response to the critical shortage of affordable rental housing in Bend.

“The design for The Parks at Eastlake mirrors the highly desirable and award-winning design of Eastlake Village and will offer one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments,” the announcement said. “Residents will enjoy expansive decks, private entries, windows that provide exceptional natural light and desirable interior amenities.”
