Volunteers in Medicine Clinic awarded $1,500 grant

Volunteers in Medicine Clinic of the Cascades (VIM) recently received a $1,500 grant from Wells Fargo. This gift will sponsor comprehensive medical care for three low-income, uninsured adults in Central Oregon for one year.

“The majority of our patients have one or more chronic condition,” said Kat Mastrangelo, Executive Director of VIM. “These conditions include diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, and mental health diagnoses. All of which are manageable with medical oversight and access to care.”

By receiving basic preventative care, patients are able to avoid lost workdays and ER costs they can’t hope to pay. With VIM, the community has healthier workers and the satisfaction that comes along with taking care of our neighbors.

VIM does not receive government funding and does not accept insurance. The clinic is 100% supported by private foundations, businesses and individual donations, plus in-kind contributions of professional services and supplies.

Every dollar donated is multiplied seven times because of the dedicated efforts of our volunteers. As a result, VIM generates more than $6,000,000 in healthcare benefits each year.
