Bend dad-son duo’s Halloween trick becomes viral treat

KTVZ

A photo of a Bend father/son duo is taking the Internet by storm — a trick that’s fast become a Halloween treat for millions around the world scratching their heads over who is who.

Two years ago, Paul and Bobby Evers decided to swap identities for Halloween. The catch is, the photo was posted just a couple days ago on Reddit.

Now it’s been viewed by millions of people, as major news outlets around the world have picked up the story and marveled over how much the pair look like one another.

“We didn’t realize how much we did look alike until we did a little bit of makeup,” Paul said Wednesday.

After the makeup was applied, the Evers men swapped clothing, dyed hair and committed to acting out one another’s mannerisms.

NewsChannel 21 wanted to know which transformation was tougher.

“I had to wear fake eyelashes to match his eyelashes — you’ve got to be very careful about applying fake eyelashes,” Paul Evers said. “So I definitely had a harder job.”

Who knew a little makeup would be such a hit? But there’s one person who wasn’t so hot on that Halloween’s switcheroo.

“My mom probably had the least amount of fun,” Bobby Evers said. “She was very uncomfortable with the whole thing.”

Paul added, “She said, ‘Listen guys, I’m not touching either one of you.'”

Need further proof the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree?

These doppelgangers do more than just swap outfits and facial hair — they work together at Crux Fermentation Project, the Bend brewery Paul co-founded.

Their newfound fame might not be enough to retire, and there might just be one person who could convince them to give up a job that comes with a lot of beer.

“We’re hoping Ellen (Degeneres) calls,” Bobby said.

Paul added, “Yeah, we’re waiting for Ellen to call.”

Until then, cheers to the twins, who are already planning for next Halloween.
