The Mid-Week Warm-Up & Your Sunday Reward

We are officially in that stretch of weather that rewards you for calling Central Oregon home. I’m tracking a total regional turnaround that brings us back to that "sweet spot" we look for this time of year. Whether you're heading to the river, finishing up evening chores on the acreage, or grabbing a post-work pint, here’s the outlook for the tri-county area.

The Rest of Today: Sun, Dust, and a Stout Breeze

We’re looking at clear, sunny skies for the rest of this Wednesday. It’s a beautiful evening to be out, but keep a grip on your hat.

  • The Heat: Highs are hitting the lower to mid-80s for most of us. If you’re up in Sisters, La Pine, or Sunriver, expect it to stay a bit more comfortable in the 70s.
  • The Wind: Northwest winds are the main story this afternoon, with gusts hitting up to 35 mph.
  • The "Work/Play" Balance: If you're out checking fences or moving stock, the dust will be kicking up. If you're heading to the river or a patio, that breeze is going to keep things feeling a bit cooler than the thermometer says.
  • Irrigation Note: With zero rain in this NOAA cycle, the alfalfa and garden beds are going to need that evening water.

Tonight: Porch-Ready & Crisp

As the sun dips behind the Cascades, the temperature follows suit. Expect a classic High Desert night with lows dropping into the mid-to-upper 40s. It’ll stay breezy through sunset, but once those gusts settle, it’s a perfect "Porch-Ready" night to just sit out and breathe.

The Road to the "Sweet Spot"

We aren't just looking at one good day—we’re tracking a solid run for the rest of the week.

  • Thursday: More of the same! Sunny skies with highs right around 80. The wind backs off a little, with gusts closer to 25 mph.
  • The Friday/Saturday "Cool Down": We’ll see a slight dip into the mid-70s. It’s actually the perfect "active weather" window for hiking the Badlands or mountain biking before the heat bounces back.
  • Sunday Reward: This is the prize. We’re heading back into the 80s with clear skies. If you've been waiting for the "green light" to spend the whole day outdoors, Sunday is it.

High Desert Discovery

With the clear visibility we’re seeing, it’s prime time for photography or exploring the geology of our lava flows. Just keep in mind that while this dry stretch is great for river floating and Mt. Bachelor views, it keeps our wildfire risk and drought front of mind.
