Two Bend men stabbed; one seriously hurt

KTVZ

Police are looking for a suspect or any tips from the public in a southeast Bend stabbing early Tuesday that left two men injured, one seriously, officers said.

Officers responded shortly before 2 a.m. to a reported stabbing on Southeast Third Street, near Burnside Avenue, said Lt. Paul Kansky. They found two stabbing victims and provided first aid, he said.

Joshua D. Swager, 31, and James R. Jones, 26, both of Bend, were taken by ambulance to St. Charles Medical Center-Bend, where a spokeswoman said Swager was in serious condition Tuesday afternoon, while Jones had been treated and released.

Kansky said officers found that the crime had occurred on the footpath on the east side of Third Street, north of the railroad underpass.

One victim said an unidentified Hispanic man stabbed both of them, then fled the scene, the lieutenant said.

Police have not found the suspect, and detectives are still investigating, Kansky said. Anyone with information was asked to contact Deschutes County dispatchers at (541) 693-6911 or Bend police.
