Bend-La Pine makes principal assignments

Bend-La Pine Schools Superintendent Ron Wilkinson announced Tuesdasy the appointment of two principal positions for the 2014-15 school year.

Chris Boyd, from North Clackamas School District, will join the district as the planning principal for the new middle school, slated to open in Bend in 2015.

Tammy Doty, currently principal at La Pine Elementary School, will serve as the planning principal of the new elementary school slated to open in Bend in 2015.

Additionally, Wilkinson announced that Anissa Wiseman, currently the interim principal at Bear Creek Elementary School, was named the school’s full-time principal, effective immediately.

“Exceptional leadership, clear vision for excellence and great caring for students and adults are the common characteristics shared by these individuals,” said Wilkinson.

Boyd is currently Associate Director of Secondary Programs at North Clackamas School District in Oregon. He will serve as the planning principal for the middle school slated for construction between Summit High School and W.E. Miller Elementary School in Bend. Boyd previously served as principal for the opening of Happy Valley Middle School at North Clackamas School District, Oregon. Boyd has worked in education for 16-years in Oregon and has served as teacher, dean, assistant principal, and principal. He has a Bachelors from St. Olaf College and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Willamette University. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Educational Leadership at University of Oregon.

Doty is currently the principal at La Pine Elementary School in La Pine. She will serve as La Pine Elementary School Principal and the new elementary school principal concurrently during the 2014-15 school year. When the new school, located in central Bend, opens in 2015, she will be the school’s principal. Doty has worked in education for 20-years at Bend-La Pine Schools as teacher and principal. Doty has dual Bachelors from Western Oregon University and a Master of Education from the University of Oregon.

Wiseman was named interim principal at Bear Creek Elementary School for the 2013-14 school year in August. Today, Wilkinson announced that she will continue as principal at Bear Creek Elementary School as principal, without the ‘interim’ label. Wiseman has worked in education for 20-years including positions in bilingual education with Houston (Texas) Independent Schools and teaching, student services and principal positions with Bend-La Pine Schools. Wiseman holds a Bachelors from University of Oregon, a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Pacific University and completed her Administrative Licensure at University of Oregon.

“I am very happy to welcome Boyd to our district and look forward to Doty and Wiseman in new roles on my administrative team,” said Wilkinson.
