Broken pipes: Weather issues not just on the roads

KTVZ

Days of record-cold temperatures have caused problems in Central Oregon, and not just on the roads but with burst pipes and a broken boiler.

A water main broke Monday afternoon at Building 3 of the COCC Redmond campus, closing the Manufacturing and Technology Center for the rest of the day.

Meanwhile, at the Madras Senior Center, a broken pipe prompted cancellation of Tuesday’s senior meals. Officials hope repairs will allow the service to resume Wednesday,

Earlier Monday, a broken boiler prompted closure of Sisters Elementary School for the day, though no other school closures or delays were reported as slick roads linger from last week’s major snowstorm.

It was the first day back at school for most Central Oregon students after the Thanksgiving holiday break.

Please send any further announcements of weather-related closures or delays to us at stories@ktvz.com – thank you.
