KTVZ

A 67-year-old Hubbard man was flown to St. Charles Bend Thursday afternoon with non-life-threatening injuries after his snowmobile went over an embankment in the Potato Hill area near Santiam Pass, authorities said.

Linn County sheriff’s deputies and Search and Rescue responded to the call to the area shortly before 1 p.m., Lt. Michelle Duncan said.

Charles Fobert , an experienced snowmobiler, ” didn’t see a sharp drop on an embankment ” and ” ended up going over the handlebars ” while snowmobiling with his family, Duncan said.

The Jefferson Snowmobile Club helped rescuers get to the area of the crash.

Duncan said Fobert sounded coherent when rescuers and medics arrived. A house supervisor at the Bend hosopital said Fobert was in fair condition late Thursday afternoon.
