Honoring Those Who Served: Memorial Day 2026

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- As communities across Central Oregon gather this Memorial Day weekend, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to the United States.

Memorial Day is more than the unofficial start of summer — it is a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by members of our armed forces and the families who continue to carry their legacy forward.

Across the country, flags will fly at half-staff, veterans and families will visit memorials and cemeteries, and communities will come together in gratitude and reflection. Here in the Pacific Northwest, many will also take time to support local ceremonies and tributes recognizing those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

On this Memorial Day, KTVZ honors all fallen service members and extends heartfelt gratitude to the military families whose strength and sacrifice are never forgotten.
