REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) — A blood drive is being held in honor of a Redmond firefighter-paramedic remembered for his service, strength and dedication to his community.

The blood drive, scheduled for Friday, July 24, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., will take place at 341 NW Dogwood Ave. in Redmond.

The flyer below was posted by Redmond Fire & Rescue on their FaceBook Page.

Michael Kienzle dedicated his life to helping others, both on the job and as a mentor to young athletes. In early 2024, he was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer, T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

Despite intensive treatment and months of perseverance, Kienzle faced the disease with the same resilience and determination that defined his career. He died June 7, 2026, surrounded by family and close friends.

The event aims to honor Kienzle’s legacy of service, compassion and strength.

Kienzle began his fire service career in 2015 as a volunteer firefighter with the Corvallis Fire Department before joining the department full-time in 2019. He joined Redmond Fire & Rescue in 2024, where he quickly became a valued member of the team.

Friends and colleagues say he was known for his generous spirit, as well as his love of golf and history. He also spent time mentoring young athletes in the community.

“Michael was a dedicated firefighter and a cherished member of our fire family,” said Redmond Fire & Rescue Chief Ryan Herrera. “His courage—both on the job and throughout his battle with leukemia—was an inspiration to us all. His legacy of service, compassion, and strength will never be forgotten.”

Kienzle is survived by his wife, Lisa, and their young son, Logan. Lisa Kienzle is also the head coach of the Caldera High School softball team, which recently won the 5A state championship.

KTVZ Sports Director Dylan Anderman recently highlighted the team and the fundraiser they organized to support the Kienzle family and others.
