REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- The City of Redmond will host the Redmond 250 Community Block Party on July 3 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Centennial Park. The event will feature two Blue Ribbon contests and celebrates America's 250th anniversary.

Community members are invited to participate in a Blue Ribbon Pie Baking Contest and a Blue Ribbon Patriotic Dog Costume Contest. The dog costume contest is presented in partnership with Street Dog Hero. Participants can pre-register online or register in person at the Street Dog Hero booth at 4:00 p.m.

The Blue Ribbon Pie Baking Contest is open to baking enthusiasts of all ages. Entry categories include Youth, Teen, Adult and Wildcard Open. All pies must be homemade and baked from scratch by the contestant. Store-bought pies or premade components are not accepted. To maintain food safety during July's warm weather, refrigeration dependent pies such as fresh dairy cream, custard and meringue varieties are not permitted. Contestants are encouraged to enter fruit, nut or other traditional baked pies.

Pet lovers can showcase their animals in the Patriotic Dog Costume Contest. Categories for this competition include Best Hair, Sharpest Bling and Most Patriotic. Costumes for participating pets should be pet-friendly, allow for full mobility and avoid obstructing visibility. Pets entering the contest should also be comfortable around people and other animals.

The City of Redmond invites the community to the block party for an evening of local talent, fun and friendly competition. The event aims to showcase creativity, hometown pride and summertime spirit. Additional event details are available at www.redmond250usa.com.

Online pre-registration for both contests is available at www.redmondoregon.gov/250.
