Israeli officer, 2 Palestinian militants killed in shootout

JERUSALEM (AP) — The Israeli military says an army officer has been killed in a shootout in the occupied West Bank, while Palestinian officials say two gunmen were killed in the same clash. Wednesday’s violence was the latest in a long string of deadly fighting between soldiers and Palestinians in the West Bank. Much of the fighting, including Wednesday’s, has been concentrated near the city of Jenin. The area is known as a bastion of Palestinian militants.
