Former Bend HS softball coach sued by former player, claiming girls’ locker-room spying

 BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A lawsuit seeking $500,000 in damages has been filed against former Bend High softball coach Rob Ray by a former player, claiming invasion of privacy and emotional distress.

Court documents obtained by KTVZ News claim that in March of last year. Ray entered the girls' locker room while players were undressed and would not leave, despite being asked to.

KTVZ News also learned from the court documents two players reported seeing Ray spying on the girl's locker room on at least two occasions.

Bend-La Pine Schools Communications Director Scott Maben provided KTVZ News with a statement:

"Rob Ray was placed on paid leave in March 2024 pending an investigation. After his one-year coaching contract ended that spring, the district elected to not offer him a contract for this school year. We can't comment further on the personnel situation. The district is not a party to the lawsuit."
