Fire heavily damages La Pine home before firefighters stop spread; no one home at the time

La PINE, Ore. (KTVZ) – A fire heavily damaged a home in La Pine Wednesday night, but firefighters were able to stop its further spread, officials said.

La Pine Rural Fire Protection District crews responded around 8:25 p.m. to the reported structure fire in the 52000 block of Wayside Loop.

Crews arrived to find flames coming from the south end of the manufactured home.

“The fire was quickly knocked down, thanks to an aggressive fire attack strategy,” the fire district said in a news release, and were able to contain the fire to the single structure before it could spread to nearby brush and trees.

A search found the home it was unoccupied at the time of the fire, as the residents were away.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.

A total of 25 firefighters were dispatched to the fire and were on the scene for about three hours.
