Bend just had its third-warmest October on record, NWS says

 BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Bend's recent string of warmer-than-normal weather extended into October, according to data released Monday by the National Weather Service in Pendleton. In fact, it was much normal than typical.

The average temperature at the official recording station at Bend Airport was 53.8 degrees, which was 6.4 degrees above normal. High temperatures averaged 71 degrees, which was 9.1 degrees above normal.

That makes it Bend's third-warmest October on record. The warmest average temperature was 54 degrees, in 1988.

Bend's highest temperature last month was 86 degrees on the 7th. Low temperatures averaged 36.6 degrees, which was 3.8 degrees above normal. The lowest temperature was 11 degrees, on the 26th.

Bend had eight days when the low temperature was below 32 degrees.

The city's precipitation totaled 0.19 inches during October, which was 0.41 inches below normal. Measurable precipitation - at least .01 inch - was received on two days, with the heaviest, 0.10 inches, reported on the 11th.

Precipitation this year has reached 5.68 inches, which is 2.09 inches below normal.

 Bend's outlook for November from NOAA's Climate Prediction Center calls for above-normal temperatures and above-normal precipitation. Normal highs for Bend fall from 54 degrees at the start of November to 41 degrees at the end of November. Normal lows fall from 31 degrees to 25 degrees. The 30-year normal precipitation is 1.39 inches.

Prineville also was warmer than normal in October, the NWS said. The average temperature was 51.4 degrees, or 2.2 degrees above the 30-year average. The highest temperature was 90, on the 2nd, and the lowest 12 degrees, on the 26th.

Prineville's precipitation totaled .0.23 inches last month, or 0.60 inches below normal. The year has brought 6.17 inches of precipitation, 1.89 inches below normal.
