Dry and mild pattern remains, Spring begins tomorrow

High pressure continues to be the main weather feature over the Pacific Northwest and is keeping the region dry and well above normal.  The high temperature in Bend Sunday was 70 and Redmond hit 71 as the region continues to stay mild.  Expect more of the same today and Tuesday until the high shifts east far enough to allow cooler air to arrive from the west and north.

The next chance for some measurable rain will not be until Friday, so prepare for a dry week. Thursday will be the “setup” day as the skies fill with clouds and the temperatures only reach the upper 50s to low 60s.  Still, there will be some time for the atmosphere to moisten enough for rain to make it to the surface, so Friday looks to be that day. 

Snow is possible on the Mountains as early as Wednesday night into Thursday, but should not be overwhelming. I expect a few inches to dust the groomed surfaces that will still be rather thick.

Next weekend we return to the rainy and wet scenarios that have been defining our weekend prior to this past weekend.  Temperatures will be chilly enough near dawn to provide a chance for a wintry mix of snow and rain, then off and on rain showers during the day will make the most sense based on the temperature profile.

Enjoy the dry and mild days, as we head into the new Spring season of 2024.  That begins with the equinox on Tuesday evening at 8:06 pm.
