Snow, wintry mix on the High Desert today

There is a Winter Weather Advisory for parts of Deschutes, Jefferson and Crook counties until the afternoon. Bend, Redmond, Prineville and Madras are included in the Advisory.  This has been issued due to the late season snow potential of around 1 – 2”. This will make roads slick and travel impacted.

Snow accumulations are expected to pile up during the morning commute hours this Thursday. The snow will struggle to stick on the ground since we’re so warm, but slick roads and patchy ice on bridges and overpasses create some travel concerns.

Although the snow will be falling for several hours, snow accumulation will be low. Although areas such as Sisters and La Pine weren't included on the advisory, they are still expecting some snow showers.

Friday will be mostly cloudy, but a stray shower possible. The highs for the rest of the work week will range from the low to middle 40s.

Keep an eye on the Red Banner at the top of this page for updates to any weather hazards and advisories issued by the National Weather Service for our area.
