Snow in the Cascades, light rain and drizzle in the High Desert

Not be much that makes moisture is expected to make it over the mountains this weekend, other than some light rain and drizzle. The region will see off and on light rain, with occasional breaks in the cloud cover revealing the sun. The overall pattern will be mostly cloudy and breezy.

Winds will be arriving from the west most of the weekend and may be a bit robust through the passes. There may be some gusts near 35 mph at times as the wind funnels through the Cascades. Some gusts may be higher along the crests of the mountains.

Saturday will be messy on the mountains as there will be another wave of wet weather expected. East of the crest, I am not expecting much rain to fall. The “rain shadow” effect will be able to squeeze out most of the moisture from the weak, moisture starved impulse that will be present Saturday.

Sunday will be mostly to partly cloudy as the region tries to warm up again. Not much luck with that as another cold front slides through the Pacific Northwest Monday. Again, moisture starved, but breezy, cloudy, and cool conditions are likely Monday and Tuesday.
