More hot and dry days, fire weather concerns

Good morning!

Even though today is cooler than yesterday, we're still expecting temperatures to be near 100 degrees. The Excessive Heat Warning will remain in effect until tonight.

We're also currently under a Fire Weather Warning (Red Flag Warning), indicating that anything that ignites will burn quickly. The combination of hot, dry weather and breezy winds creates ideal conditions for fast-spreading fires. Northwest winds will be coming in at 12 to 20 mph.

With wildfire activity flares across the region, smoke and haze will be a concern. If we don't receive rain soon following this period of heat, high fire danger will remain a concern for several months in Central Oregon.

As we move through the rest of the week, we aren't getting much relief from the heat. Expect temperatures ranging from the upper 90s to low 100s over the next few days, with overnight lows in the upper 50s to low 60s.

Remember to check out the Alert Banner at the top of the page for updates and information about the heat and fire danger.
