Dry and hot through weekend, high fire danger remains

Happy Friday Central Oregon!

There's no relief from the heat yet as we continue to experience above normal temperatures. Afternoon highs today will be in the mid to upper 90s. A slight cool down from our run of triple digit temperatures, but still very hot!

We have been issued another Heat Advisory for portions of Central Oregon from 12pm today until 10pm Sunday. Temperatures will range from the mid 90s to low 100s, posing a risk of heat-related illness.

We’re expecting dry and breezy conditions, which keep the fire danger high. The combination of dry ground fuel, hot and dry air, and light winds could lead to rapid fire growth.

Eastern Oregon has blown up with several wildfires, including the largest Cow Valley Fire which has grown to 20,000 acres.

Over the weekend, we may see some cloud cover. No rain is expected, but some areas to the east or south of our Tri-Counties may see a few showers or storms.

Enjoy the rest of your day. Stay cool.
