Warm and dry through Wednesday, changes expected late this week
Over the weekend, severe thunderstorms and showers dominated the forecast. Areas along the Cascades and in the Valley saw severe weather and our forecast area, here on the eastern side of the slopes saw some dangerous storms as well. Lightning, hail, heavy rainfall, and very strong winds were all observed. Our radar picked up on some rotation in a couple areas around us but nothing was reported
The first half of this week will be comfortable with mostly sunny skies, and warm temperatures. Clouds will increase through the afternoon today and overnight.
Today’s highs are expected to hit the low 80s and upper 70s, a pattern that will remain with us through Wednesday. Lows tonight will be in the 40s. Great news is that air quality is good for everyone today, which is something I haven’t been able to say in a while.
The forecast for the end of the week will be different, as another strong low pressure builds and deepens over the Pacific Northwest by Thursday, which will trigger some showers for a couple days. Thunderstorms and hail aren’t entirely out of the question. An incoming cold front on Thursday will also help to lift some of the air, increasing chances for showers and storms. Cooler temperatures, dropping into the 60s for many areas, will accompany the front. This will put us well below normal for this time of year.
Step outside tonight and observe the August Blue Supermoon. Tonight’s full moon will appear bigger and brighter because it is within 90% of its closest approach to Earth. Â
Happy Monday, have a great rest of your day.
