Mountain snow still possible tonight, milder pattern ahead
Last weeks bitter cold pattern has come to an end, but not the chance for some snow and rain. The Weather Alerts for the region are expected to expire today and the rest of the evening will see a slight chance for some light snow and rain, creating some slick roads, but little accumulation.
The bitter cold pattern from last week is in the books and this week we will be dealing with a much milder pattern. The high temperatures over the next several days will be in the 40s and overnight lows in the low 30s. The heaters this week will get a much needed rest from the overtime they put in last week.
The chance for a wintry mix does return to the area on Wednesday after a dry and mild day Tuesday. The event will begin with some snow in the morning followed by a rain in the mid-day and afternoon time frame. Highs across the high desert will be above freezing so, other than some early day flakes, I expect to see more rain than snow as the day moves along. Mountains will still see the snow therefore; mountain passes will be impacted.
Dry and mild conditions take over after Wednesday with highs topping out in the upper 40s to low 50s. Thursday will be dry and near normal with an afternoon high in the upper 40s followed by Friday temps in the 50s. The region stays dry through Saturday then some widespread rain arrives Sunday. Expect a passing shower on Monday with highs near 60.
Please stay safe.
