Persistent pattern of precipitation through Thursday

(KTVZ, Bend Ore.)   Each of the next few days we can expect to see an afternoon shower or thunderstorm. An area of low pressure located south of the state of Oregon will continue to push inland and provide us some rainy weather.

The chance for showers today and again Wednesday is above 50% so keep the rain gear handy. The rain may be accompanied by some thunder today, but not as widespread as Monday. The cooler temperatures will slow down the “percolation process” and although lightning storms are not off the table, the cooler pattern should lead to more showers than storms.

Wednesday will be another rainy day as the same low responsible for the rain Monday and today will be east of the region. The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch starting Wednesday morning and lasts until Thursday evening.

This will bring the rain in from the east and across the High Desert. The amount of rainfall Wednesday will be a slightly more robust, so some minor flooding along with debris flows over the old burn scars from last fire season. Be alert when traveling in hilly terrain that have recently had a wildfire.

Total rainfall from Tuesday night through Wednesday night ending at midnight into Thursday.

Temperatures Today, Wednesday, and Thursday will be in the low 70s and upper 60s.

Thursday will be the last day in this string of rainy days. The rain will be spotty as opposed to the widespread events expected.  Rain may linger into the early evening then taper off.

Friday should be a dry and mild day with highs in the middle to upper 70s and partly cloudy skies.

Saturday will be dry, but more rain is expected to return to the Pacific Northwest on Sunday.

There was a 5.8 magnitude quake off the coast of SW Oregon last night around 9 pm. No tsunami alerts were issues and there have been very few reports of damage. Several aftershocks have been detected, the largest to date is a 4.4 at around 12:30 pst today
