Rainy and chilly weekend with mountain snow

The showers will be across the region off and on, mainly over the Cascades, with only scattered showers expected to arrive on the High Desert. The winds will be on the breezy side, so if you have put out the Halloween decorations, make sure to secure them well. Highs will be in the 50s across the Tri-Counties, which is below the normal middle 60s for this time of year.

Today the rain will be light but may see some areas like La Pine and Prineville get about a quarter of an inch of rain. Saturday will see a bit more rain as the two-day totals indicate about quarter inch more rain expected region wide.

Tonight will be chilly, but about normal for mid-October as lows dip to the middle 30s. Mountain snow above 5500 feet will be likely. Might see a few inches on Mt. Bachelor.

Sunday will be a cloudy and chilly with the bulk of the rain and snow staying along the mountains. The lower elevations are expected to get some stray showers under the low cloud deck. La Pine and Sisters may see some flakes fly, but since the ground is not frozen, roads will be wet, but not snow covered.

Monday morning may be on the slick side as some computer models are forecasting a wintry mix of rain and snow. The overnight wet weather has a chance for some snow covered roadways across the passes, and some spots may have slushy conditions.

The rest of the day Monday will be breezy and cold as highs continue to only peak in the 50s. Some sunshine is possible as the clouds pull away from Central Oregon for the first time since Thursday.
