Colder Nights, Plenty of Sun

KTVZ

If you have spring plants outside or haven't quite finished winterizing your irrigation, tonight is the time to pay attention. We are looking at a stretch of clear skies that will bring plenty of sunshine, but very cold overnight temperatures.

Tonight: The Freeze

With clear skies and calming winds, temperatures will drop quickly tonight.

  • Lows: Expect mid-20s to lower 30s across the tri-county area.
  • Impact: This is a firm freeze. Cover any sensitive outdoor starts or bring them inside if possible.

Saturday: High Desert Gold

Saturday looks to be the pick of the weekend for outdoor plans.

  • The Forecast: Wall-to-wall sunshine.
  • The Temps: Highs will reach the mid-to-upper 50s. It will be a perfect day for a hike or yard work, though you'll still want a light jacket in the shade.
  • Saturday Night: Another cold one, with lows again dipping into the upper 20s.

Sunday: Sunny & Warmer

While the mountain passes might see some extra cloud cover, the forecast for the high desert remains dry and bright.

  • The Forecast: Sunny skies with highs climbing into the upper 50s and low 60s.
  • The Mountains: If you are heading over the Cascades or toward Sisters/La Pine, expect more clouds and a 40% chance of a stray shower, but the main cities should stay dry.

The Big Warm-Up

If you’re waiting for "true" spring weather, it arrives next week.

  • The Outlook: We stay dry through Monday, and then a significant warming trend begins Tuesday. We expect to see the low 70s return by next Thursday.
