Hot Tuesday ahead, showers & storms on the way to Central Oregon

KTVZ-TV

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) - Central Oregon is in for another very warm day Tuesday, with temperatures climbing well above average for this time of year. Afternoon highs are expected to reach the upper 80s and low 90s, and a few locations could challenge record highs.

We’ll start the day with mostly sunny skies before clouds gradually increase through the afternoon as the weather pattern begins to shift.

There is also a chance for showers and thunderstorms across Central Oregon today and Wednesday as more unsettled weather moves into the region.

Some thunderstorms could produce gusty winds and lightning. With a lack of moisture, there is potential for “dry lightning,” which can spark new wildfires.

Rain showers and a few thunderstorms may continue overnight into Wednesday morning before conditions begin to clear later in the day.

An offshore low moving inland will also bring a noticeable cooldown to Central Oregon, with highs dropping back into the 60s by Wednesday afternoon.

Dry weather returns Thursday with highs in the low 70s. We are expecting similar temperatures on Friday with winds picking up during the afternoon.

There is a slight chance for light rain on Saturday with partly to mostly cloudy skies across Central Oregon. Afternoon highs will be in the mid to upper 60s over the weekend.
