The heat is back; showers cool us down into the weekend

KTVZ

Bend, Ore (KTVZ) – Plenty of sunshine to start the new work week and kick off the first week of summer. High temperatures are likely to hit the upper 80s and low 90s as the flow of air arrives from the west. This will allow us to get some high-level clouds Tuesday, filtering the sunshine, but also warmer air.

Wednesday will be slightly cooler but still well above our normal high of 76 – 78 for Central Oregon. Sunny skies return and the sun baked earth will rise to the upper 80s. The warmer than normal weather is still a concern as we move into the summer as evaporation of the water in our reservoirs increases in the heat. Some relief is on the way as we head into the weekend.

Thursday will start out sunny but clouds move in as the day moves along and some light rain is possible before sunset. Remember that sunset times are around 9 pm in late June so the rain is not likely until the evening. This batch of rain is expected to be beneficial for the plants as it will be a light and steady rain.

Friday is likely to the be a rainy day, something we don’t get too often here across the high desert. The rain will be light and steady most of the day and the high temperatures will, as a result, only reach the upper 60s to low 70s.

The cooler than normal pattern lingers through the first weekend of summer with highs in the middle 60s.

Spotty showers linger across the mountains on Saturday and Sunday as partly to mostly cloudy skies will define the sky conditions across the high desert. A few light sprinkles may develop this weekend but most of the rain will get gobbled up by the Cascades.

Please, Stay safe.
