Partly cloudy and mild today, spotty showers Sunday

The forecast is calling for some dry and mild “fall-like” weather today with highs reaching the middle 70s most locations.   A mixture of clouds and sunshine this afternoon with the clouds doing a good job of filtering the sunshine.  Winds will pick up a bit in the afternoon, but not much more than 15 - 20 mph at times.

Smoke from the Little Lava fire will still be impacting Sunriver, Bend and La Pine as the firefighters keep the perimeter in tact and the smoke to a minimum. Another area of concern today will be the Flat Top and Firestone fires in southern Deschutes and northern Lake counties. These two fires are very close to each other and are burning hot. A lot of smoke may be generated by each of those events and drift on the winds. Good news is, the winds look to be from the north today so most of the smoke will migrate south.

Sunday will be a cloudy day with temperatures ranging from the upper 50s to low 60s. Some rain is likely to develop to the south and east of the region but a few may drift into Jefferson, Deschutes and Crook Counties. The rain is not expected to be widespread, but keep the umbrella handy if you are heading out.

Monday will be mostly cloudy but we can’t rule out a rogue shower or two. The bulk of the widespread rain is expected Tuesday and may linger into Wednesday.
