Bend law firm pledges $25,000 to OSU-Cascades

Oregon ranks 45th in the nation when it comes to funding higher education, according to report in the Oregonian. Karnopp Petersen has been instrumental in advocating for better support of higher education in Central Oregon.

Last month, Karnopp Petersen hosted a discussion of how Central Oregon can write its own future in higher education with its successful Business 2020 Executive Breakfast Series.

This month, the local law firm takes its support one step further with a $25,000 pledge to OSU-Cascades. The donation will span a total of five years, paying $5,000 each year from 2013 to 2017.

The gift will benefit the Oregon State University-Cascades Ascending New Heights initiative. The pledge is conditioned upon approval from the Oregon State Board of Higher Education for OSU-Cascades’ transition to a four-year branch campus of Oregon State University.

The condition requires State Board approval of the four-year branch campus by September 30, 2012.

“We believe the future of our community relies on having the opportunity to obtain the training and education needed to be competitive in today’s global economy,” said Tami MacLeod, Executive Committee Chair and partner at Karnopp Petersen. “We are proud to be a partner with OSU-Cascades and to support the opportunity for Central Oregon to have its own four-year branch campus.”
