Redmond city manager Brandt resigns

Redmond officials said Friday they have accepted the resignation of City Manager David Brandt, who is returning to his hometown of Cupertino, Calif., to become city manager there.

Brandt, whose resignation is effective Aug. 30, has been Redmond’s city manager since 2009.

“It’s with mixed emotion that I leave the city of Redmond,” Brandt said in Friday’s announcement.

“Redmond is a wonderful community, and the city organization and elected leadership are amazingly talented and dedicated,” he said. “I am gratified by what we have accomplished over the past three years, and am confident that the city is in a strong position to continue its positive momentum.”

“David has been an outstanding City Manager for the three years he has served Redmond,” said Mayor George Endicott.

“Upon his arrival, he immediately demonstrated his talent as a leader,” Endicott said. “During his tenure, he and his team have successfully stabilized the budget, hired a number of excellent managers and staff, and reorganized City Hall into a more efficient and effective organization.”

The mayor, city council and Redmond’s management team will work over the next few weeks to create a plan of action for locating and recruiting a qualified leader to serve as Redmond’s new city manager.
