Bend seniors can get free hot lunch, socialize

KTVZ

Seniors in search of a social atmosphere and delicious food are invited to nutritious lunches at the Bend’s Community Center.

The program, paid for by Central Oregon Council On Aging (COCOA) congregate dining program, offers low-income seniors (60+) the opportunity to enjoy a free, delicious hot meal and the opportunity to socialize with others.

Bend’s Community Center is located at 1036 NE 5th Street in Bend, just off Greenwood Avenue.

Lunch meals are served Monday-Friday from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Brunch is served on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., just before Bingo begins at noon.

While the meals are free to low-income seniors 60 years and older, donations are always needed to support the senior meal program at BCC. Visitors 59 years and younger are $6.50, and children under 12 are $3.50. Many meal times feature entertainment or educational speakers.

For more information on congregate dinging program, please call BCC at 541-312-2069 or COCOA at 541-678-5483.
