Deschutes Co. Fair setup goes ‘fairly’ fast
The Deschutes County Fair starts Wednesday, and while it’s lots fun for everyone, few people know what really goes into making the fair happen.
Deschutes County Fairgrounds Director Dan Despotopulos said Monday that months of planning goes into making the fair possible for Central Oregonians.
“We have several meetings with them (Funtastic Shows) over several months, going over the details — what kinds of rides are coming, how many rides are coming and where they’re going to be setting up.”
Despotopulos says that while the planing takes many months, putting everything together only takes a matter of hours.
The entire event only takes about 30 to 40 people to set up all the equipment. Officials say that it’s great for everything to turn out well after months of planning.
The fair has a few new rides for fairgoers to enjoy this year. The fair starts Wednesday at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds and continues through Sunday.
