Sisters Quilt Show traffic changes set

KTVZ

The Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show announces important changes in traffic flow and parking for the 37th annual show on Saturday, July 14.

The Sisters Elementary School parking lot, located just east of Locust St. and accessed via Cascade Ave. E., will be designated for handicapped parking only this year. This more than doubles the amount of handicapped parking available.

The parking lot just to the west of Locust St., between the Sisters Schools Administration building and City Hall will continue to be designated for handicapped parking. A five-passenger cart will shuttle between the center of town and the Elementary School parking lot.

Highway 20/Cascade Avenue will be again be closed to traffic from 6 am to 5 pm on show day, Saturday, July 14.

New this year, westbound traffic (coming from Bend & Redmond) will be routed north on Locust St., west on Barclay Drive and south onto Larch St. for access to downtown and the show.

The block of Main St. between Locust and Cedar will be closed to traffic and utilized by traffic control officials as a staging and communications area.

There will be no parking on Highway 20 east of Sisters, on either side of the road. Not only is there plenty of parking on the streets of Sisters, but it is extremely dangerous to walk into town on Highway 20 with the high volume of traffic.

There will also be no parking on Locust St., north of town. Again, high volumes of traffic make that an unsafe place to park and walk into Sisters.

Parking is available and free to the public on the city streets of Sisters. Please do not block driveways or alleys.

Free parking and a free shuttle is available at Sisters High School. Signs will direct you to that location. The shuttle, provided by the Sisters Lacrosse Team, runs continuously from 9:30 am to 5 pm.
