NorthWest Crossing hosts farmers market

KTVZ

The warm weather brought hundreds of people to NorthWest Crossing on Saturday, where they kicked off their seasonal farmers market.

The streets were packed with dozens of vendors selling everything from sweet gelato to fresh local vegetables and homemade crafts.

A live band was set up to get visitors in the block party mood, and a petting zoo and free pony rides were there for the children to enjoy.

“We have the best farmers in Central Oregon and the best crafts in Central Oregon, and you can find anything you need here,” said Kyle O’Brien, operations director for C3 Events.

Vendors like Eldin Wilson, who whittles wooden ornaments said the farmers market is a summer event he looks forward to every year.

“We’ve had a lot of people come in and ask if we’re going to keep staying here,” said Eldin Wilson who runs the booth, Hearts Desire. “And we really enjoy the camaraderie that we have with the other vendors, so we really like it.”

Currently it’s berry season, so several vendors were selling raspberries, blueberries and blackberries. As summer continues, the fresh produce will change, and vendors will sell their seasonal picks.
