Pacific Power outages hit SE Bend, N. of Madras

More than 800 Pacific Power customers in southeast Bend lost power for two hours Friday morning when a jumper wire to a power line failed — and about the time those repairs were done, a new outage hit the Cherry Lane area north of Madras.

The Bend outage began around 10:15 a.m. and eventually affected 817 customers, utility spokesman Tom Gauntt said.

All were back online by about 12:15 p.m., he said, beating the 1:30 p.m. estimate of full restoration by over an hour

Two area residents reported much briefer outages, 10 to 20 seconds, on NewsChannel 21’s Facebook page.

Then, around 12:20 p.m., a wire fire on a power pole knocked out service to about 150 customers on or near Cherry Lane, north of Madras, Gauntt said. Crews initially estimated that problem would take until around 4 p.m. to complete repairs, but pushed that back to 6 p.m. because the damage was more extensive than originally thought, Gauntt said.

Two wires also reportedly burned and fell along Quail Drive in Crooked River Ranch Friday afternoon.
