…BREEZY WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY EXPECTED TODAY…

.Winds will increase as a Pacific cold front sweeps across the
Pacific Northwest. Very dry air and breezy winds will be present
across portions of central and eastern Oregon and southeast
Washington ahead of afternoon frontal passage. As a result, this
area will be susceptible to rapid fire spread.

The National Weather Service in Pendleton has issued a Red Flag
Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect
until 7 PM PDT this evening.

* AFFECTED AREA…Fire Weather Zone 640 Central Mountains of
Oregon.

* WINDS…West 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY…5 to 15 percent.

* IMPACTS…Rapid fire spread may occur, particularly in dry
grassy areas.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
