Air quality issues return, mild over the weekend
The Little Lava along with other fires in the Bachelor Complex are continuing to produce a good deal of smoke. The flow of air is bringing that smoke to the region, and our air quality has suffered a hit today. The Air Quality Alert has been extended past the weekend. The other fire that is contributing to the poor conditions is the Rain Ridge fire. Limit outdoor activities in these conditions as we are in the unhealthy category in several locations, including Bend and La Pine.
The weather conditions are looking dry for the weekend as we are going to see a mix of clouds and sunshine Saturday, followed by mostly sunny skies Sunday. The chance for some light rain may be present in southern Deschutes County early Saturday, but I am not expecting much more than a stray shower.
Temperatures this weekend will be above normal as the average high for mid-October is 65 and we will be in the low to middle 70s. The cloud cover on Saturday morning will slow the warming process, but we are still going to hit the low 70s. Sunday will be mostly sunny, and therefore the mercury hits the middle 70s.
Mid-70s are expected on Monday and Tuesday with plenty of sunshine Monday followed by late day clouds Tuesday. The clouds Tuesday are arriving ahead of what may be a nice batch of rain early Wednesday morning. The rain will linger off and on and a wintry mix of rain and snow may be possible into the night and early Thursday. That is a long way off and will need to be fine-tuned as we get closer to the event, but we do seem to have some hope of at least some light rain next week.
